Tollywood actor and philanthropist Konidela Chiranjeevi has won a major legal battle in safeguarding his identity from misuse. The Chief Judge of the City Civil Court, Hyderabad, issued an ad-interim injunction on September 26, 2025, in Chiranjeevi’s favor, preventing several individuals and entities from using his name, image, voice, or likeness without permission.

The actor approached the court after noticing the misuse of his name and image on online platforms, merchandise, and even in AI-generated materials. Recognizing Chiranjeevi’s iconic status and four-decade-long career in the industry decorated with national honors like the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, the court opined that such misuse could seriously damage his reputation and financial interests.

The court order made it clear that unauthorized use of Chiranjeevi’s personality, especially through digital and AI platforms, amounts to exploitation and misrepresentation. The injunction now bars 33 named defendants from using Chiranjeevi’s name, stage titles like “Mega Star,” “Chiru,” and “Annayya,” or any part of his persona for either personal or commercial gain.

It also warns that anyone, including television channels, digital platforms, and media outlets, found misusing Chiranjeevi’s image or name to attract attention or boost profits could face strict civil and criminal action. The court’s next hearing on the matter is scheduled for October 27, 2025.

On October 11, 2025, Chiranjeevi personally met Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mr. Sajjanar and handed over a copy of the court order. During their discussion, they agreed on the need for stronger laws to curb the growing misuse of celebrity identities, especially in the age of AI. Chiranjeevi expressed deep gratitude to Advocate S. Nagesh Reddy and his legal team for their dedication to achieving this milestone judgment.
