Coronavirus Outbreak: Another state to shut movie theaters

Published on Saturday, 14 March 2020 03:00 AM

After the death of a 76-year-old Karnataka man yesterday and another suspected death in Kerala today, the entire country is panicked over the rampant outbreak of the Coronavirus. Several state government authorities have been taking various preventive measures to control the virus, and this includes the shutting of the movie theaters.

After Kerala and New Delhi, Maharashtra is the next Indian state to order for the immediate closure of movie theaters. This means that hundreds of single screens and multiplexes across the major cities such as Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Thane and Nagpur will remain shut from tomorrow until further notice.

This temporary closure of cinemas will cause a huge damage to the film exhibition business.
