Coolie headlined by Superstar Rajinikanth, is showing an exceptional trend in advance bookings. According to trade reports, this Lokesh Kanagaraj’s directorial earned over Rs. 70 crores till now globally. With the Telugu states’ bookings set to commence in a while, we can witness solid jumps. The bookings trend is outstanding in international markets, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
Now here is the big surprise. The Hindi version titled ‘Coolie: The Powerhouse’ is also seeing an encouraging response. Coolie is no doubt the most awaited South film at the moment, but in the form of War 2, it is facing a huge opponent in the Hindi heartland. YRF has been aggressive in locking the majority of the theatres for the spy action thriller.
Despite securing 1/10th of the screen count, Coolie: The Powerhouse is witnessing good momentum in bookings, indicating the Hindi audience’s interest in watching the film. The response has prompted prominent single screens to allocate 1-2 shows for the Rajini starrer. In national chains the Hindi version sold around 18.5K tickets which is pretty good.
If the reports are good, then Coolie has every chance to earn Rs. 100 crore nett at the North Indian box office in its lifetime. Currently, the film is looking at an opening of around Rs. 6 crores nett. Initially Coolie was seen as a threat to War 2 only in the South market, but now it looks like the gangster action drama can eat into a portion of the spy thriller’s business.
