Rajinikanth’s big-budget and most anticipated movie Coolie opened in cinemas 4 days ago, completing its first weekend at the box office.
The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed action drama, despite mixed reviews and competition from War 2, grossed an impressive Rs. 380 crore worldwide in 4 days. Despite the mixed response from critics and audiences, Coolie delivered a superb first weekend.
On day 4 alone, it collected around Rs. 62 crore, while its North American tally crossed the $6 million mark. The real test, however, begins today, Monday.
Reports suggest that Coolie fell short of Leo’s first extended weekend collections. Leo grossed around Rs. 403 crore, whereas Coolie stands close to Rs. 380 crore. Thus, Leo remains the highest-grossing Kollywood opener for the first weekend. An official word from the Coolie team is still awaited for a clearer picture.
The film also has Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, and others in key roles, produced by Sun Pictures, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
