The Telugu film Naandhi, headlined by Allari Naresh, received critical acclaim and was also a commercial success. The film depicts how an undertrial prisoner, falsely accused of murder, proves his innocence using IPC Section 211. After a string of flops, Naandhi marked a strong comeback for Allari Naresh.
The film also introduced Vijay Kanakamedala as a director. Following its success, ace producer Dil Raju collaborated with Bollywood star Ajay Devgn to produce its Hindi remake. An official announcement was made, with Ajay Devgn praising Naandhi’s powerful content as the reason for backing the project.
However, after the initial announcement, there were no further updates, and the project faded from public attention. While promoting his upcoming release Bhairavam, director Vijay Kanakamedala revealed that he was initially set to direct the Hindi remake. He confirmed that the project has been shelved due to multiple reasons.
However, Vijay Kanakamedala did not elaborate on the reasons for shelving the project. Factors like creative differences, or changing market dynamics could have influenced their decision. Both Vijay and Ajay Devgn have now moved on to their respective projects, leaving no room for controversy.
