The title glimpse of Ram Pothineni’s Andhra King Taluka was unveiled on the actor’s birthday and it received a solid viewership on social media. Billed to be an emotionally charged entertainer, the film focuses on the life of a die-hard fan of a movie Superstar, delving deep into the fan culture of Andhra Pradesh.
Sandalwood actor Upendra is playing the role of the Superstar in the film, and this aspect has sparked mixed reactions among a section of the audience. Some opined that it would have been ideal to cast a Telugu actor for this crucial role since the story is set in Andhra.
Interestingly, reports suggest that the makers initially approached Tollywood senior hero Nandamuri Balakrishna for the role. However, the actor reportedly did not take up the offer. Following this, the team is said to have roped in Upendra, believing his screen presence and popularity would bring a fresh perspective to the character.
While there are differing opinions, a good number of movie lovers feel that choosing a non-Telugu actor was a smart move, as casting a Tollywood hero might have triggered unnecessary fan wars, given the sensitive fan dynamics in the Telugu states.
The makers are expected to share their thoughts on this casting choice during the promotional events. Bhagyashri Borse plays the female lead, and the film is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Directed by Mahesh Babu P of Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty fame, the film has generated solid buzz already.
