Legendary Malayalam actor Mohanlal delivered back-to-back mega-blockbusters with L2: Empuraan and Thudarum. Empuraan’s box office performance was expected given the sky-high hype, but no one expected Thudarum to wreak havoc at the ticket windows. Thudarum created history in Kerala by emerging as the first 100 crore grosser in the state.
With its fantastic hold at the box office, the Mohanlal starrer is giving new releases a run for their money. Rumors suggest that Thudarum’s OTT release has been delayed by a few days because of its spectacular performance in theatres. Accordingly, Thudarum may not have its digital release after four weeks of its theatrical run. However, we have to wait for official confirmation.
The word is that Jio Hotstar acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of this monstrous blockbuster. Until now, Thudarum has amassed Rs. 220 crores gross worldwide. Thudarum is now the all-time top three Mollywood grosser behind Empuraan and Manjummel Boys.
At this pace, Thudarum has every chance to go past Manjummel Boys’ global collections. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the movie also features Sobhana, Prakash Varma, Binu Pappu, Thomas Mathew, and Amritha Varshin in key roles.
