Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas, Manoj Manchu, and Nara Rohith’s much-delayed Bhairavam is coming to the big screens on May 30. Vijay Kanakamedala of Naandhi fame is the director. Bhairavam is the official remake of the Tamil blockbuster Garudan, which was headlined by Soori, Sasikumar, and Unni Mukundan.

In an interview, Vijay Kanakamedala was asked what made him opt for a remake in this OTT era. The director replied, “I am against remakes. But for Bhairavam, I received a proposal from my co-producer. I was asked to watch Garudan, as the producers wanted to remake it in Telugu with Bellamkonda Sreenivas Garu.”

Vijay added, “I was supposed to do a film with Sreenivas Garu. I connected with the story of Garudan, and it has the emotional depth that I like to have in my films. Bhairavam retains Garudan’s soul, but the presentation will be entirely different. People will notice the resemblance to Garudan due to the story, but the scenes will feel very fresh.”

Vijay Kanakamedala is hopeful that the audience will watch Bhairavam despite it being a remake. Aditi Shankar, Anandhi, Divya Pillai, Jayasudha, Ajay, and others are also a part of this flick. KK Radhamohan bankrolled Bhairavam under the banner of Sri Sathya Sai Arts. Sri Charan Pakala is the music composer.
