Saiyaara, starring debutant Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has become a surprise box office hit, closing in on the Rs. 300 crore mark. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film continues to perform strongly and has sparked widespread attention.
Amid the buzz, rumours began circulating on social media that Anurag Basu’s upcoming film with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela, speculated to be Aashiqui 3, shares a similar storyline with Saiyaara. Some even claimed that Basu and his team were revising the script to avoid overlap.
Responding to these claims, Basu denied any such changes. “Mohit and I are close, and I already knew Saiyaara’s story well before its release,” he said. He addressed the storyline rumours directly: “Yes, the heroine in Saiyaara has Alzheimer’s. But in my film, Sreeleela’s character does not have Alzheimer’s or any related condition. There is no rewriting or reshooting happening.”
He also confirmed that the film, initially expected to release during Diwali 2025, is now postponed to 2026. Around 40 percent of the shoot has been completed so far. The remaining schedules are planned for August or September, depending on Kartik Aaryan’s availability, as he is currently shooting Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri. More updates are expected once filming resumes.
