The teaser for Tiger Shroff’s much-anticipated action drama Baaghi 4 dropped online today, sparking extreme reactions from audiences. If you think Animal is the most violent Bollywood film, you might want to think again — Baaghi 4’s teaser packs more brutality than Animal, and this isn’t something to cheer about.
“Animal 2,” “Marco 2,” “Looks like a spoof,” “Is everyone playing butchers?” — these are just some of the comments from movie buffs reacting to the teaser. From the word go, every artist, including Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonam Bajwa, is shown slashing and chopping humans for fun. The problem isn’t just the violence; it’s the clear and heavy influence of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s blockbuster Animal.
If the Baaghi 4 makers think Animal succeeded solely because of its violence, they’re mistaken. Ranbir Kapoor’s starrer had solid characterizations, and more importantly, its intense action was driven by strong emotion. Violence alone doesn’t sell. Without a compelling emotion, it feels forced. And going by the Baaghi 4 teaser, the brutality seems deliberately inserted to cash in on the growing craze for action films.
Repeating what worked in another film isn’t a wise move, as audiences are smart enough to notice. Baaghi 4 is directed by Kannada filmmaker A. Harsha and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film is slated for release on September 5, 2025.
