During the pandemic, a small film titled Colour Photo was released directly on Aha. It became a sensation and marked the feature film debut of young talent Sandeep Raj, known to YouTube viewers as Masala Sandeep. The film never reached theatres but went on to win the National Award for Best Film, giving a major boost to the entire team, including the young filmmaker.

Now, the director’s second feature film and first theatrical release, Mowgli 2025, was set for a December 12 release. However, the situation changed abruptly. The makers of Akhanda 2 resolved their issues and almost finalised December 12 as their release date. This forced the small film to postpone its plans, which deeply upset the director. He took to X to share his pain.

The disappointed filmmaker wrote that both his films, Colour Photo and Mowgli 2025, deserved another director because both releases had faced unexpected roadblocks. He went as far as to say he might be the “bad luck” factor affecting their release plans.

“My dream of seeing the title Directed by Sandeep Raj on the big screen is becoming harder day by day. I think SILVERSCREEN hates me,” Sandeep wrote.

He added, “Mowgli was made with the passion, sweat and blood of so many dedicated people like Roshan, Saroj garu, Sakshi, Harsha, DOP Maruthi, Bhairava and many more. I truly hope that all good things happen to Mowgli at the very least for their sake.”

Comments poured in supporting him and his work. Netizens and admirers encouraged him to stay patient and wait for the big day to come.

The film is produced by People Media Factory and stars Roshan Kanakala and Sakshi Mhadolkar in key roles. For now, the release has been halted and a new date will be announced at the right time.
