Recently, the Tamil film industry received a big boost from the government. Ahead of the upcoming Pongal festive season, the TN government has granted permission to the multiplexes and single screens across Tamil Nadu to operate in 100 percent capacity as opposed to the 50 percent allowed now. The move will hugely benefit the Pongal biggies like Vijay’s Master and Simbu’s Eeswaran.
Now, the Telugu film industry is demanding the same from the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Telugu Film Producers Council (TFPC) has sent a representation to AP and Telangana CMs, requesting their permission for 100 percent occupancy in cinemas in the twin Telugu states during the upcoming Sankranthi festive season.
The TFPC has told both the Telugu CMs that theaters are not able to cope with maintenance charges with the existing 50 percent occupancy rule and therefore incurring losses. If the Telugu governments oblige the TFPC’s demand, it will benefit the four notable releases, Krack, Red, Master and Alludu Adhurs, which are gearing up for release in a few days.
