Legendary Kollywood star Kamal Haasan has a deep bond with the Telugu audiences. In his illustrious career spanning nearly six decades, Kamal acted in several iconic Telugu movies, such as Sagara Sangamam, Maro Charitra, and Swathi Muthyam, to name a few. Kamal’s highly anticipated pan-India action drama, Thug Life, is gearing up for its theatrical release on June 5.
With less than a week for Thug Life’s premieres, the makers held a grand pre-release event in Vizag on Thursday evening, with Kamal, Simbu, Trisha, Abhirami, Nasser, and Thug Life’s Telugu presenter N Sudhakar Reddy gracing the event. Speaking at the event, Kamal first thanked the people of Vizag for their warmth and love ever since he shot for Maro Charitra in the city when he was just 21 years old. “Vizag turned me into an overnight star after Maro Charitra. I shot Sagara Sangamam, Ek Duje Ke Liye, Subha Sankalpam, and other movies in Vizag. This is like my second home,” Kamal said, as he took a trip down memory lane.
Kamal went on to say that even though he made several bad movies, audiences only remembered the good movies he served them. “I wholeheartedly thank you for your kindness. I have acted in 15 straight Telugu movies, and 13 of them were successful at the box office. I made Thug Life to pay my debt to my audience. Movies like Thug Life happen when real artists come together. It’s a great film, and I’m eagerly waiting for your response on June 5th,” said the legend.
Also starring Simbu, Trisha, Abhirami, Ashok Selvan, Bollywood stars Ali Fazal and Sanya Malhotra, and others in prominent roles, Thug Life is directed by Mani Ratnam and features a scintillating soundtrack composed by AR Rahman.
