Deepika blasted the work conditions in the Indian film industry and called it “brutal.” She also said that the industry must change its “chalta hain” attitude.
Highlighting the blatant gender bias in work hours, Deepika said that most male superstars often work only eight hours per day for years and that it never makes headlines. She further vouched for the need for structured workplace systems in an industry that has “never truly operated like one.” “Slowly but surely I am focused on bringing about change in the workplace as far as the Indian film industry is concerned because it is brutal,” she added.
