Mahavatar Narsimha, the first film in the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe (MCU), backed by Hombale Films and Kleem Productions, is going bonkers at the box office. The animated film, directed by Ashwin Kumar, has become the highest-grossing animated film in India by a significant margin.
The film recently set a remarkable new record that might be difficult for even big-star films to achieve. On its third Saturday, Mahavatar Narsimha registered a new peak on Book My Show hourly trends by selling 38,000 tickets in one hour, which is a very rare feat. Word-of-mouth has been the film’s biggest marketing tool, making this BMS record highly unlikely to be broken anytime soon.
At the worldwide box office, Mahavatar Narsimha has earned over Rs. 150 crores and is on track to reach Rs. 200 crores or more. It seems Mahavatar Narsimha might even pose some threat to the Independence Day weekend releases.
