Indian 2 and Game Changer ended up as mega disasters, causing huge losses to all parties involved. What’s astonishing is that director Shankar hasn’t spoken a word about the outcome of these two films. Many felt Shankar should have taken responsibility for the failures. Interview clips featuring Game Changer’s producer Dil Raju and other crew bashing Shankar for the poor output and unprofessional working style went viral, intensifying the trolling directed at him.

Previously, Shankar had announced that he would next work on Velpari, a high-budget film based on the novel of the same name. Given the financial losses from Game Changer and Indian 2, many wondered whether the project would ever materialize. In a recent event, Shankar spoke about Velpari, and his words invited trolls in no time.

The Sivaji director said, “Enthiran was my previous dream project. Now, Velpari is my dream film. It has the scope to introduce new technologies like Game of Thrones and Avatar. Velpari has the potential to become the pride of Tamil cinema and Indian cinema. It can achieve global recognition. Hope the dream comes true.”

“Despite once being a visionary director, Shankar now seems to be far from reality, ignoring the feedback about the flaws in his recent films. I wonder if this is the same person who delivered many iconic films,” commented a user on X.

Shankar definitely continues to be overly ambitious despite the poor reception and quality of his recent films. He appears fixated on making only big-budget entertainers, and netizens are now wondering if any producer will dare to bankroll another film directed by him. Many are suggesting that Shankar should focus more on story and screenplay rather than spending excessively on songs.

The reputation of stars like Kamal Haasan and Ram Charan also took a severe hit with Game Changer and Indian 2. A project like Velpari involving massive cost definitely requires a star hero, but looking at Shankar’s current form, it remains to be seen whether any top actor will be willing to collaborate with him.
