War 2’s Day 4 Box Office in Nizam: Sunday Share Falls Short of Saturday’s Earnings

One of Bollywood’s most awaited movies, War 2, was released a day before Independence Day. Led by Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR (in his Bollywood debut), the spy action thriller is helmed by Ayan Mukerji.

The results fell short of expectations from fans and trade analysts. The movie in Nizam raked in Rs. 1.30 crore on Sunday (day 4), slightly less than Saturday’s share of Rs. 1.65 crore. It was expected to rake in more on the holiday, but the differing word of mouth and competition from Coolie put a cap on its earnings.

With this, the total for the first weekend (4 days), including all languages, stands close to Rs. 10 crore. How much more it will earn at the box office this week, the jury is still out.

War 2 also includes star heroine Kiara Advani, with Bobby Deol making a cameo appearance. The movie is backed by a deep pocket under the Yash Raj Films banner. Stay tuned for more collection updates on this film.

NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s spy action entertainer War 2 is now playing in theatres. The film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, mostly received mixed to negative reviews from critics. At the domestic box office, War 2’s Hindi version opened to around Rs. 28.5 crores nett. On Independence Day, the film saw a very good growth, raking in Rs. 44 crores nett, taking the two-day collections tally to Rs. 72.5 crores nett at the Bollywood box office.

At the worldwide box office, War 2 earned nearly Rs. 165 crores gross. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the biggie opened globally to Rs. 84 crores gross, and on its second day, the film collected in the same range as the opening day. While the Hindi version witnessed a good jump in business, the Telugu version witnessed drops, which is quite normal.

Two titans, Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, come face to face in War 2, one of Bollywood’s biggest franchises. Ayan Mukerji helmed this spy action saga.

The movie has opened strong at the box office with close to 19,400 shows, and it is estimated that it will make around ₹53 crore gross on its opening day in India alone.

Having tough competition from Rajinikanth’s Coolie and still achieving these numbers is no easy task.
