Samantha’s wedding to filmmaker Raj Nidimoru has drawn wide attention across the country. Although his work on ‘The Family Man‘ made him a well-known name, many still may not know much about his background or how he built his career. Here is a clear look at his life and rise in the entertainment industry.

Early Life and Education:

Raj Nidimoru was born on August 4, 1975, in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. He comes from a Telugu-speaking family and grew up with his parents, Krishna Nidimoru and Rama Ratnakara, and his sister, Sheetal.

He completed his B.Tech in Computer Science at Sri Venkateswara University College of Engineering in Tirupati. Soon after, he moved to the United States and started working in the tech sector, only to shift toward filmmaking as his interest in storytelling grew stronger.

Beginning of His Filmmaking Journey:

Raj began his creative journey with his long-time collaborator Dasarakothapalli Krishna (DK), who hails from Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. Before getting into mainstream cinema, the duo put out the short film Shaadi.com in 2002 and the independent English-language film Flavors in 2003, which played at international film festivals.

They made their Indian feature debut with 99 in 2009. Their next film, Go Goa Gone in 2013, turned into a cult hit and introduced Indian audiences to a new style of zombie comedy.

Rise in Film and OTT Space:

Over the years, Raj and DK built up a strong filmography and moved into streaming with notable success. Their major works include:

  • The Family Man
  • Farzi
  • Guns & Gulaabs
  • Citadel: Honey Bunny

They also stepped into writing and production. They co-produced the Telugu film D for Dopidi in 2013 and backed the acclaimed indie project Cinema Bandi in 2021. They wrote Inkosaari in 2010 as well.

Their biggest commercial high point came with Stree in 2018. The film became a major hit and helped shape the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU).

Personal Life:

Raj married Shyamali De on December 4, 2015. She studied psychology and worked as an assistant director with filmmakers like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Vishal Bhardwaj. She was part of the team that worked on Rang De Basanti. The couple has a daughter and later separated in 2022.

Raj worked closely with Samantha during The Family Man Season 2 in 2021 and again during Citadel: Honey Bunny. Their bond reportedly grew through these projects. After months of speculation, the two tied the knot in a private ceremony in Coimbatore on December 1, 2025. Samantha shared the wedding photographs online.

Upcoming Projects:

Raj and DK are currently working on:

  • Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom for Netflix, featuring Samantha
  • Farzi Season 2 with Shahid Kapoor

These projects are set to strengthen their standing as one of the most consistent and impactful creator duos in the Indian streaming space.

From starting out in the tech world in the United States to building a respected name in Indian cinema, Raj Nidimoru has carved out a path defined by creativity, experimentation, and steady success. With major projects underway and a new chapter in his personal life, he remains a creator whose work continues to draw attention.
