Katamarayudu’s​ 4-day AP, Telangana collections

Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu released last Friday amid heavy expectations and pocketed record collections on its opening day.

Even though the film’s collections dipped slightly on the second day, Pawan’s box-office stamina ensured decent day 2 collections. The film then utilized the Sunday advantage to the fullest and collected huge across the twin Telugu states on its 3rd day.

The real acid test for Katamarayudu was the Monday shows and according to the trade reports, the film has survived quite well at the regional box-offices.

In its 4-day theatrical run, Katamarayudu has collected a decent 37.67 crores share in the Andhra, Nizam and Ceded areas.

Katamarayudu struggling at overseas box-office

Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s Katamarayudu was sold at exorbitant prices in all areas in the twin Telugu states and in overseas. While the movie’s collections are average in the two Telugu states, the movie seems to be struggling hard at the overseas box-office.

Even though Katamarayudu has entered into the one million dollar club in the US by grossing close to 6.70 crores so far, the movie has to collect huge to land its buyers into profits.

Katamarayudu’s ​overseas rights were sold for a whopping 11.50 crores and another 50 lakhs were approximately spent on promotions, making it a 12 crore investment approximately.

The film being an out and out mass entertainer with too little to offer for overseas family audiences and the initial mixed reviews are the main reasons​ behind the US audience not rushing to watch the movie in huge numbers.

With the weekend coming to an end, the movie may hardly collect another 1.50 to 2 crores in the coming weeks and the buyers are staring at huge losses unless a miracle steers the catastrophe away.

Katamarayudu’s ceded and Vizag collections

Continuing with the first day collections of Katamarayudu, we now bring you the figures from ceded and Vizag. The latest update reveals that the Pawan Kalyan starrer has collected a total share of 2.95 and 3.1 crores in both ceded and Vizag regions respectively on the first day.

The single screens are running with packed houses whereas the multiplexes have been gaining collections with each passing show. Pawan Kalyan’s strong screen presence and simple family drama are the main reasons for this openings.

We need to see how this film performs from Monday onwards. Anup composes the music for this film which is produced by Sharadh Marar.
