The title announcement and glimpse launch event of SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s Varanasi grabbed attention from movie buffs across the country. Days after the event, director CH Subba Reddy filed a formal complaint with the Telugu Film Producers Council, stating that he had already registered Varanasi two years before and that Rajamouli cannot use the same title.
According to multiple reports, the issue has now been resolved with the tentpole film undergoing a slight title change. Accordingly, the film will now be called Rajamouli’s Varanasi instead of Varanasi. It is further said that the name of the film in the other versions will be Varanasi, with only the Telugu version getting a small modification.
An official clarification is yet to come from the production house. The biggie also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in key roles. KL Narayana of Durga Arts is producing the movie on a huge budget, and it will hit the screens in Summer 2027. MM Keeravani composed the tunes.
