A special resolution adopted during a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) state executive committee meeting on Friday unanimously elected Kollywood star Thalapathy Vijay as the party’s CM candidate for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Needless to say, millions of Vijay fans who are eagerly waiting to see their favorite star as the CM are thrilled by the announcement.
But what’s winning everyone’s praise is Vijay and TVK’s decision to go solo and not ally with any party during the elections. The TVK has ruled out the possibility of forming an alliance with neither the ruling DMK nor the BJP, which is desperately trying hard to make a foray into the Tamil Nadu State Assembly. Several netizens called Vijay a “Braveheart” for taking on the two powerful parties on his political debut and not compromising on his or his party’s ideologies.
The TVK executive committee also proposed to conduct a state conference on a huge scale next month. Furthermore, Vijay will be attending several public meetings, which will be held in each and every village across Tamil Nadu to disseminate the party’s ideology.
