Kollywood star Vijay is set to take a big plunge into active politics by contesting the Tamil Nadu assembly elections in 2026. The actor, fondly addressed as Thalapathy by millions of his die-hard fans, had launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, in February 2024.
As per the latest buzz in the Tamil political circles, Vijay is considering the Nagapattinam constituency to contest in TN Assembly Elections in 2026. However, an official announcement in this regard is awaited. Given Vijay’s massive popularity across Tamil Nadu, especially in the rural areas, Nagapattinam seems like a sensible decision by Vijay, opine political analysts.
In October 2024, at Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s first-ever public meeting, Vijay declared that while BJP will be the ideological enemy of his TVK party, the ruling DMK will be TVK’s political enemy. On the movies front, Vijay is currently working on Jana Nayagan. The film, touted as a remake of Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari, is being promoted as Vijay’s last movie before his political entry.
