With just three days remaining for the film’s grand global release, the fate of legendary Kollywood actor-filmmaker duo Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s highly anticipated pan-India action drama, Thug Life, hangs in the balance in Karnataka.

Several pro-Kannada activists, the Kannada Rakshana Vedike, and the Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) are hellbent on banning Thug Life from releasing at single screens and multiplexes across the state following Kamal Haasan’s controversial statement on Kannada being born out of Tamil.

Amid such an intense scenario, Kamal moved the Karnataka High Court in Bengaluru and urged the court to direct the state government to deploy additional security at the screens playing Thug Life. However, the Kannada Rakshana Vedike and the KFCC have vehemently opposed Kamal’s move, standing firm on their stance on stalling the film from releasing until Kamal apologizes.

Following the Kannada activists’ latest decision, all eyes are on Kamal Haasan and whether or not he will tender an apology for his statement. Stay tuned to 123telugu to catch all the latest developments on this issue.
