Thani Oruvan, directed by Mohan Raja, is one of the most loved action thrillers in Indian cinema. The movie featuring Jayam Ravi, Arvind Swamy, and Nayanthara in the lead roles went on to become a huge blockbuster. The film received highly positive reviews from critics with praise for its screenplay, direction, music, and performances.
Later, Thani Oruvan was remade in Telugu by Megapower Star Ram Charan as Dhruva. The Telugu version directed by Surender Reddy was also successful. The makers of Thani Oruvan announced a sequel titled Thani Oruvan 2 and also unveiled a special glimpse. However, there has been no update on the project since. In a recent award function, Mohan Raja revealed that the sequel will be delayed.
Mohan Raja said, “We haven’t finalized the budget for the film. After hearing the script, producer Archana Kalpathi felt this was not the right time to proceed. Thani Oruvan 2 requires a lot of budget, and the industry’s potential has to become bigger for the movie to happen. The project might get delayed, but it’ll happen for sure.”
