Bollywood star actor Akshay Kumar gave a good hit with Oh My God 2, but the satisfaction didn’t last long for the fans as Akshay’s latest release, Mission Raniganj, took one of the lowest starts in Hindi cinema for a star hero film. The film wasn’t promoted much from the beginning, and hence, the audience was unaware of it.
As per trade estimates, Mission Raniganj collected in the vicinity of 2.5-3 crores nett on the opening day, which is disastrous, to say the least. What’s even more appalling is that this survival thriller directed by Tinu Suresh Desai received glorious reviews from reputed critics, but the same was not reflected in the collections.
Akshay’s Selfiee, which was also released in 2023, collected a terrible 2.6 crores on its first day. Now, Mission Raniganj has only made things worse for the star actor. There is constant chatter about the over-exposure of the star actor and a few opine that Akshay shouldn’t do low-budget films. Will the star pay heed to the comments being made against him? We shall wait and see.
