Sandalwood star hero Upendra’s social satirical film, UI, hit the screens during Christmas 2024. After a decade, Upendra donned the director’s hat, and the film was released amidst good hype. However, UI received mixed reactions upon its release, with one set of audiences calling it a masterpiece while others slammed it. The film was full of metaphors, with Upendra criticizing many aspects of society.
Though it’s been more than two months since UI was released, it is yet to arrive digitally. According to reports, UI is expected to make its OTT debut on March 30 on ZEE5. Recently, Kichcha Sudeep’s Max and Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam had their digital and satellite premieres simultaneously. A report in OTT Play suggested that UI will follow the same route.
An official announcement is yet to be made by ZEE5 and Zee Kannada. Upendra essayed a dual role in this flick set in a dystopian world. G Manoharan and KP Srikanth produced UI under the Lahari Films and Venus Entertainers banners. Geetha Arts released the film in Telugu. The movie also stars Reeshma Nanaiah, Nidhi Subbaiah, Murali Sharma, and Sadhu Kokila in crucial roles. Ajanjeesh Loknath composed the tunes.
