Sreenu Vaitla’s last outing was Viswam, an action comedy-drama headlined by Macho Star Gopichand. The movie starred Kavya Thapar as the female lead. The film wasn’t a big hit, but in a recent interview, Sreenu Vaitla stated that he absolutely has no regrets about Viswam’s result.

Sreenu Vaitla said, “I am pleased with how the film has shaped up. There were some adverse situations, like the project changing hands. I can’t disclose some details. Viswam was hardly promoted and it was released amidst intense competition. Hence, it had a low opening, but the second day’s collections were four times higher than the opening day. It was only possible with word of mouth.”

“Even in its third week, Viswam was played in 140 theatres in Nizam. But all of a sudden, it arrived on Prime Video. The movie wasn’t even promoted by Prime, but it started trending on top position within no time. Viswam gave me a huge sigh of relief. The movie fetched good revenues both from theatrical performance and non-theatrical rights. The comedy worked and its soul was good,” stated the Venky director.

Sreenu Vaitla opined that Viswam was the kind of film that should have been celebrated more. Naresh, Pragati, Vennela Kishore, Jisshu Sengupta, Sunil, Rahul Ramakrishna, Pruthvi, and Mukesh Rishi played supporting roles. Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Venu Donepudi, the film’s music was composed by Chaitan Bharadwaj.
