The 97th Academy Awards were presented a few nights ago, and Brazil is celebrating its historic first-ever Oscar win in the Best International Feature Film category for Ainda Estou Aqui (I’m Still Here). And India’s numero uno director SS Rajamouli couldn’t be happier.
Rajamouli took to Instagram and congratulated I’m Still Here’s director Walter Salles, the acclaimed Brazilian director whose 2004 film on Che Guevara, The Motorcycle Diaries, inspired the blockbuster RRR. “A heartfelt salute to one of my favorites, Walter Salles, for bringing Brazil its first-ever Academy Award with Ainda Estou Aqui. #ImStillHere!,” Rajamouli posted.
Rajamouli went on to give special shoutouts to Fernanda Torres, the lead actress in I’m Still Here, and Sean Baker for scripting history as the first filmmaker to win four Oscars in one night. On the work front, Rajamouli will kick-start the new schedule for Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas-starrer globe-trotting jungle adventure, SSMB29, in Koraput, Odisha.
