Operation Safed Sagar is a new war drama series announced by Netflix today, shaping up to be one of the most ambitious OTT projects in recent times. Set against the backdrop of the 1999 Kargil conflict, it revolves around the Indian Air Force’s high-altitude mission codenamed “Safed Sagar,” which took place in the treacherous terrain along the Line of Control.
The makers have unveiled a first-look teaser describing it as “the untold story” of the operation, promising a blend of historical depth, patriotic flavour, and high technical production values.
Directed by Oni Sen, the series stars Siddharth and Abhay Verma in lead roles, with seasoned actors Jimmy Sheirgill and Dia Mirza also part of the ensemble cast.
Backed by Matchbox Shots, Operation Safed Sagar aims to strike a balance between large-scale aerial combat, human emotion, and gripping drama. The official release date is yet to be announced, but reports suggest a premiere sometime in November 2025.
