Tehran is a spy action thriller headlined by John Abraham. Directed by Arun Gopalan, the film was released directly on ZEE5, skipping the theatrical release. The movie is based on the 2012 attacks on Israeli diplomats. Neeru Bajwa and Manushi Chhillar played other prominent roles.
The film received promising reviews and is fetching a good response from viewers. According to a report in OTT Play, Tehran will premiere on Netflix on August 26, 2025, as part of a larger digital rollout strategy. It seems the makers approached Netflix intending to enhance the film’s appeal among a larger section of the audience and those interested in geopolitical thrillers.
However, Netflix is yet to make an official announcement. Madhurima Tuli, Alyy Khan, and Elnaaz Norouzi played supporting roles. Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, in association with Shobhna Yadav and Sandeep Leyzell of Bake My Cake Films, bankrolled Tehran. Ketan Sodha and Tanishk Bagchi composed the tunes.
