Not Dunki and Salaar, but this biggie’s success is at risk

Pan-Indian star Prabhas is set to dazzle the big screens again in Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, scheduled for release on December 22, 2023, in multiple major Indian languages. Meanwhile, Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his cinematic venture, Dunki, which is also slated for the same release date.

Both films have garnered enormous anticipation among fans, but regrettably, this anticipation has sparked unnecessary online fan rivalries between SRK and Prabhas devotees.

What’s intriguing to note is that the real contender facing potential challenges at the box office on that date is not Dunki or Salaar but rather a Hollywood flick. Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and the Last Kingdom (Aquaman 2) is set to premiere in major languages in India on December 21, 2023.

Surprisingly, Aquaman 2 lacks the buzz and enthusiasm necessary for a successful release, with some critics pointing fingers at the film’s marketing team for not creating enough hype.

It’s worth mentioning that recent releases from the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in India, such as Shazam: Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Blue Beetle, struggled to make a significant impact at the Indian box office. It will be interesting to see how Aquaman 2’s makers plan to boost their promotions to compete with Salaar and Dunki.
