Sandalwood star actor-director Rishab Shetty’s pan-India fantasy drama, Kantara Chapter 1, was released over 10 days ago and has collected a whopping Rs 500 crore plus worldwide gross. The film is particularly performing decently at the box offices across the twin Telugu states.
And Rishab Shetty is grateful to his Telugu fans and common audiences. He released a special note, thanking Telugu audiences for making Kantara Chapter 1 a huge success.
“Heartfelt thanks to the Telugu audience for the overwhelming response. The love and appreciation for the #KantaraChapter1 film are as strong as what Kantara received. I’m truly grateful to everyone who supported me throughout my journey,” Rishab said in the note.
Both Kantara Chapter 1 and Rishab Shetty were targeted by Telugu movie lovers ahead of the film’s release. While fans were calling for a ban on Kantara Chapter 1 over non-cooperation for Telugu movies in Karnataka, they were also upset with Rishab for speaking in Kannada instead of Telugu during the Telugu version’s pre-release event. Despite these challenges, Kantara Chapter 1 grossed over Rs 82 crores to date in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
