The stage is all set for an epic box office clash between the four biggest superstars of the country this Independence Day season. Rajinikanth’s Jailer, Chiranjeevi’s Bholaa Shankar, Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 and Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 are going to storm theaters this weekend. While Jailer is set to open in cinemas on August 10, the remaining three movies are slated to hit theaters on August 11.

Following the launch of Jailer’s promos and the soundtrack, the hype and expectations on the Rajini-starrer touched the sky. Going by the early trends, Jailer is all set to become the first South Indian movie to amass over $1 million gross in the USA this year. The film’s solid advance bookings in several Indian states are hinting at a record opening this weekend.

On the other hand, Chiru’s Bholaa Shankar is being eagerly awaited by fans and trade circles. Chiru’s previous movie, Waltair Veerayya, was a huge hit at the box office. As a result, Bholaa Shankar is sure to strike gold at ticket counters if the content manages to impress moviegoers. The film is an official remake of Ajith’s blockbuster action family drama, Vedalam. So Bholaa Shankar already has a minimum guarantee stamp on it.

Coming to Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, the film is a sequel to his yesteryear industry hit, Gadar. The ambitious patriotic drama is expected to cash in on the nationalistic fervour that’s rampant across North India. The high-voltage trailer gave a few glimpses of the intense and emotional drama that’s on offer for fans.

Lastly, Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 is releasing after clearing all the censor hurdles. Even though Akshay’s previous few movies had ended up as colossal failures, OMG 2 is a sequel to his 2012 superhit socio-fantasy drama, OMG. The spiritual and religious sentiment among the masses will ensure good openings for OMG 2, and then fans and family audiences will lap it up from Monday if the movie gets decent reviews.

Let’s wait for a few more days to see which of these four senior heroes walks away with the box office glory this Independence Day season.
