Bison

Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran’s Bison a.k.a Bison Kaalamaadan started a bit slow but later the film picked up superbly at the ticket windows. The film directed by Mari Selvaraj is based on the life of Kabbadi player Manathi Ganesan, a man who strived to make it big in the sport while overcoming caste-based discrimination.

Because of Dude’s rampage, Bison was initially affected slightly but with each passing day, the movie registered solid growth in collections. According to trade reports, till now the movie earned over Rs. 35 crores gross globally. The majority of the collections came from Tamil Nadu.

Bison is expected to collect over Rs. 50 crores in Tamil Nadu alone in its lifetime. The Telugu version is slated for release this week and if the dubbed version clicks, the movie can earn more bucks. Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal, Pa. Ranjith and Aditi Anand produced it under the banners of Applause Entertainments and Neelam Studios. Niwas K. Prasanna composed the tunes.

Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie received flak for its underwhelming content. The film features Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in a special cameo. Aamir had earlier mentioned that he acted in the film out of respect for Rajinikanth and that he wasn’t even aware of the full story.

After the film’s OTT debut, a fake article went viral on social media claiming that Aamir was disappointed with the way Lokesh Kanagaraj designed his role and felt it had no real purpose. However, Tamil actor Vishnu Vishal, who shares a great rapport with Aamir, clarified that the Hindi actor never said anything negative about Coolie.

During the promotions of his upcoming film Aaryan, Vishnu Vishal said, “Aamir sir told me that he didn’t give any interview speaking about in a bad light. I sent the article screenshots to him, and he clarified the matter. He did Coolie purely out of admiration for Rajini sir and is happy to be part of it.”
