Indian filmmakers have recently shown growing interest in mythological stories, each presenting their own interpretation of the country’s epic legends. Films like Adipurush and Kalki 2898 AD faced criticism for their unique takes on traditional narratives, and now Jio Hotstar’s Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh, a series created entirely using artificial intelligence (AI), is receiving similar backlash.

So far, two episodes have been released, and many viewers have taken to social media to express mixed reactions. While some praised the creators’ effort to experiment with AI storytelling, others pointed out several inaccuracies in the depiction of the era.

One user noted that a bedside desk appearing in a scene looked “too modern” and not handcrafted, arguing that such furniture didn’t exist during the Mahabharata period.

The series had already faced criticism when its trailer was launched, though the makers maintained that their aim was to present the epic in a visually innovative way for modern audiences.

Directed by Lavanya, the ambitious 100-episode web series is produced by Vijay Subramaniam, Pinky Reddy, and Sudeep Lahiri, with screenplay and dialogues by Krishna Omveer Ponia.

Alpha, Yash Raj Films’ upcoming war-action drama starring Alia Bhatt in the lead, also features Sharvari in a key role. The film is directed by Shiv Rawail, best known for The Railway Men.

Originally slated to hit theatres on December 25, 2025, the film has now been pushed to April 17, 2026. The makers reportedly decided to delay the release due to the film’s extensive VFX work, as they want to deliver a larger-than-life cinematic experience for the audience.

Along with Alia and Sharvari, the film also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and several others. Part of the YRF Spy Universe, Alpha will be released in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
