Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas is gearing up to entertain audiences with the mysterious horror thriller, Kishkindhapuri. Anupama Parameswaran is the leading lady, and the film is helmed by Kaushik Pegallapati of Chaavu Kaburu Challaga fame.
Produced by Sahu Garapati under the Shine Screens banner, the movie’s promotional content received a good response from the audience. The movie is slated to hit the big screens on September 12. Ahead of the release, producer Sahu Garapati interacted with the media, and here is the transcript.
When did you first hear the story of Kishkindhapuri?
Director Kaushik narrated the story to me in February last year. I liked it immensely. The shooting began in July. The plot has a very interesting horror backdrop. Many horror stories have come so far, but this one is very unique. The director has neatly mixed thriller and mystery elements, weaving a fresh narrative. The horror elements surrounding a mysterious radio voice have been presented skillfully. Such a horror thriller has never come before.
Did the excitement that you felt when you first heard the story remain after watching the film?
Yes. In fact, the excitement increased after watching the film. Top technicians worked on Kishkindhapuri. The mixing was done by the same team that worked on blockbusters like Animal and Pushpa. The runtime is crisp, and audiences will surely be hooked till the end.
Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas has never done a horror film before. How did he perform?
Until now, Sreenivas has mostly done commercial mass films. But in this movie, his presence feels very new. He did complete justice to his character. The first half has some entertainment, while the second half turns into a serious horror film.
Initially, Ajaneesh Loknath was roped in to compose music, right?
Yes, the director first worked with Ajaneesh Loknath. But due to his busy schedule, we went ahead with Chaitan Bharadwaj for the songs. For the re-recording, we gave him a reel or two, and he did a fantastic job. So, we continued with him.
How was it working with Anupama Parameswaran?
She always wanted to do a horror film as it is her favorite genre. Anupama was the first choice for Kishkindhapuri, and she immediately gave her nod after listening to the script. Anupama got a performance-oriented character, and she aced it to perfection.
What was the censor report? Do you plan to screen paid premieres?
The censor board gave no cuts. They said the film was very engaging and appreciated it a lot. Regarding premieres, work is underway for that. We’ll take a call on Monday.
