Acclaimed Kollywood star Vijay Sethupathi’s son Surya Sethupathi made his silver screen debut with the just-released action entertainer, Phoenix. While Surya Sethupathi has been winning accolades for his performance in his debut movie, several viral videos in which he was chewing bubblegum while interacting with fans at Phoenix’s premiere have landed him in an unexpected controversy.

Several netizens trolled Surya for his “arrogant behavior,” while many went on to call him a “result of nepotism.” However, Surya’s doting dad, Vijay Sethupathi, has apologized to those who were hurt by his son’s behavior. Vijay Sethupathi went on to call his son’s act “unintentional.” “It might have been done unknowingly. I sincerely apologize if anyone was hurt or misunderstood the intention,” said the Makkal Selvan.

In Phoenix, Surya plays a young wrestler who takes on the power-hungry people. The sports action-drama is directed by popular stunt choreographer Anl Arasu, and it also features Abhinakshathra, J. Vignesh, Sampath Raj, Devadarshini, and others in key roles. The film is produced by Rajalakshmy Anl Arasu under the AK Braveman Pictures banner.
