The Telugu film industry witnessed several unexpected developments in the past few days. Amid reports of theater closures from June 1, several members of the producers’ council, distributors, and exhibitors from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana convened a high-profile meeting and discussed the revenue sharing terms, ticket prices, and other burning issues.
Following the meeting, the producers, distributors, and exhibitors collectively announced that the theaters closure has been called off indefinitely. While movie lovers and trade circles breathed a sigh of relief, fans of Pawan Kalyan took to social media and alleged that a few influential Tollywood producers were the real masterminds behind the call for theaters’ closure. It’s worth mentioning that Pawan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu is gearing up for its theatrical release on June 12. Adding to this, Pawan Kalyan released a note that shook the entire Telugu film industry on Saturday.
In this scenario, several Tollywood producers, led by KL Damodara Prasad, interacted with the media on Saturday and clarified that they are not targeting any particular movie. The producers further said that they are ready to discuss with the governments of the twin Telugu states to resolve the existing issues. They also urged the media and fans to refer to the official communication from the producers’ council for any further information to avoid misunderstanding.
