The trailer of Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam and starring Kamal Haasan, was released recently and has sparked considerable attention across social media platforms. The film, which marks the reunion of the iconic director-actor duo after nearly two decades, is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 5, 2025.

While the trailer received appreciation for its visuals, music, and cast, one particular scene featuring Kamal Haasan and Trisha in an intimate moment has become a point of discussion online. Some social media users, particularly from Telugu-speaking communities, questioned the lack of debate around the age difference between the two actors, pointing out that similar casting choices in Telugu films have drawn criticism in the past.

Previously, actors like Ravi Teja, Balakrishna, and Chiranjeevi were criticized by certain Tamil-language pages and users for appearing alongside significantly younger actresses. The current discussion appears to be a continuation of that conversation, with users revisiting the double standards perceived in online commentary.

A similar topic came up recently during a press event for Sikandar, when actor Salman Khan was asked about being paired with Rashmika Mandanna. He addressed the question directly, defending the casting choice.

As Thug Life continues its promotional campaign, it remains to be seen whether the filmmakers or cast will respond to the ongoing discussion. The film features a notable ensemble cast including Silambarasan (Simbu), Trisha, Abhirami, Sai Manjrekar, Ashok Selvan, and Nasser.

Thug Life is produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies, with music composed by AR Rahman.
