Yesterday two biggies, Akhil Akkineni’s Agent and Ponniyin Selvan 2, were released in theatres. While Akhil’s film received mostly negative reviews, the latter received comparatively better reviews. Agent was directed by Surender Reddy, while the legendary Mani Ratnam helmed Ponniyin Selvan 2.
On the first day, Agent collected a distributor share of 1.25cr (inclusive of GST) in Nizam, whereas the period action drama PS 2 collected a share of 85 Lakhs (inclusive of GST) in this region. Sai Dharam Tej’s Virupaksha collected an impressive 50 lakhs share (inclusive of GST) on its eighth day.
It would be interesting to see how Akhil’s Agent will perform from hereon at the box office now, given the word of mouth which is not so encouraging. Virupaksha, on the other hand, is all set for one more solid weekend. The star-studded Ponniyin Selvan 2 is expected to find some takers in the Telugu states. Monday being Mayday, the films are expected to make the most out of it.
